What’s the Point of Your Newsletter?
I was having coffee with my business coach last week and we were talking about NIF and my intentions for you, the newsletter, and my business.
“So tell me,” he said, “what’s the *point* of what you’re doing–this twelve-month approach?”
“To help people have better newsletters, of course,” I replied.
He looked at me for a very long time and finally said, “So what?”
(Today’s Lesson: If it’s been awhile since you asked yourself, “So what?” about your own newsletter, today’s a great day to see how you answer the question yourself.)
We all know the importance of having a really great newsletter–no one wants to publish something that’s boring or useless or impossible to read. But, ultimately, a “better” newsletter is pretty unsubstantial–it’s not measurable and it doesn’t really speak to the potential of your newsletter.
This 12-month Newsletters in Focus program (what you’re reading each week) is all about guiding you in creating a newsletter of influence–a newsletter that will transform the way your readers think and interact with you. A newsletter your readers simply can’t live without.
What’s YOUR newsletter about? What’s it really, really about?
At the end of each of the 12 NIF modules, I invite you to unsubscribe. Not because I want you to go . But, because if this program isn’t right for you–if it’s too time consuming, not what you were looking for, or just plain boring–I don’t want to take up the space in your inbox.
Today, instead, I’d like to invite you to do something else entirely. Forward this newsletter to 2-3 colleagues and ask them to join you in this *free* program. They can join by visiting http://www.designdoodles.com/free_newsletter.htm.
(Of course, if this isn’t a journey you want to take, you’re still invited to unsubscribe .)
Your Challenge: My “assignment” from my coach is to double the subscribers to Newsletters in Focus in the next 60 days. If you’ve been finding these weekly emails valuable, please forward this issue to 2-3 colleagues who might also enjoy creating a newsletter of influence. Thanks!
